Useful Information

Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q.)

What level of technical difficulty is required to take this course?

To make the most of the multi-pitch course, it is recommended to have some prior sport climbing experience and feel comfortable leading around grade V routes on rock.
The goal of the course is not to climb physically very difficult routes, but to learn how to manage a rope team on a multi-pitch climb: belay stations, maneuvers, communication, rope management, and safe progression on the wall.
If you have doubts about whether your level is appropriate, you can write to us and we will guide you based on your experience.

Yes, it is completely normal. It happens to a lot of people, especially at the beginning or when starting to climb longer routes.
During the course, we will progress gradually, building confidence step by step and learning to move safely on the wall. The goal is for you to understand how the entire system works and to feel comfortable and secure while climbing.
Additionally, the guide will keep an eye on the group at all times, and we will adapt the pace according to everyone's feelings and experience.

What equipment is included and what do I need to bring?

We will bring all the technical equipment needed for the course: ropes, safety gear, and collective equipment for maneuvers.
If you have your own gear (harness, helmet, climbing shoes, quickdraws, carabiners, etc.), we recommend bringing it so you can learn the maneuvers with the equipment you will likely use later when climbing on your own. Likewise, if you don't have equipment or are missing anything, we can lend it to you without any problem.
You only need to bring comfortable clothing, water, food for the day, and appropriate footwear to hike to the base of the climb.

What happens if a member of the rope team gets tired or cannot overcome a move halfway up the wall?

This is more common than it seems and is part of learning multi-pitch climbing. During the course, we will cover various resources to handle these situations calmly and safely.
You will learn, for example, how to rest at a belay station, help a partner through a specific move, or use gear to overcome a particular section if needed. We will also practice basic maneuvers to safely retreat from a route by rappelling if the situation requires it.
The goal is not to push your limits, but to learn how to manage a rope team and move safely on the wall.

What is the technical difference between the equipped and the traditional (classic) multi-pitch course?

In the equipped multi-pitch course, we will climb routes where the main protection bolts are already installed on the wall. The focus is on learning how to manage a rope team on a multi-pitch climb: belay stations, maneuvers, double ropes, rappels, communication, and safe progression.
In contrast, in the classic multi-pitch course, we will also learn how to protect ourselves on the rock using removable gear like cams, nuts, and slings. It is a more technical type of climbing oriented toward self-sufficiency, as many of the protection points are placed by the rope team itself during the ascent.
